Mr. Tateno is responsible for managing the company, formulating and executing long-term strategies, and directing all interactions with clients. Mr. Tateno personifies TP Partners commitment to delivering the highest quality service to clients and candidates, alike.  Mr. Tateno has over 25 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience, including a wide range of international start-up management, general management, and venture capital assignments; he has managed multi-billion dollar international projects in the US, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Kuwait and Nigeria.

At TP Partners Mr. Tateno conducts cross-border searches for high-tech companies, directs TP Partners, Interim Management engagements, along with hands-on leadership of all Outsourcing assignments.  Mr. Tateno assists high-tech start-ups in securing venture capital financing for their cross-border operations, as well as strategic alliance partnerships, as warranted.

Mr. Tateno has built a reputation for his strong work ethic, results-oriented team building, and ability to maintain enduring relationships.  A longtime business leader in Silicon Valley, he was responsible for the start-up team at Justsystem Ventures; located in Menlo Park’s famed Sand Hill, Justsystem Ventures was a $78 million corporate venture capital group that developed and managed an impressive investment portfolio. 

Recently, Mr. Tateno led a Japanese software company’s US entry, and purchase (M&A) of a Canadian software company.  On the M&A front, Mr. Tateno’s responsibilities ranged from pre-acquisition due diligence, to post-acquisition company reorganization, integration, and unified program adaption throughout North America.  Previously, Mr. Tateno established IMCA AMERICA, Inc. (IAI) where he served as the company’s Managing Director & CEO.  At IMCA he championed the development of practices in high-tech, life sciences, and HR Consulting.  Additional experiences include 8-years with Recruit USA (New York, NY) where he held executive roles in the areas of application systems maintenance (IBM Main Frames), and computer data center management / Outsourcing.

Mr. Tateno has been featured by a number of external venues. He has served as an Advisory Board Member on JETRO’s US Business Incubation Center;  spoken frequently at the Keizai Society, JCCNC (Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Northern California), Kyushu University’s Annual Conference, and as a visiting speaker at Keio University and Meiji University, respectively; and served as a contributing editor of Nikkan Gogyo Shimbun.

Mr. Tateno did his undergraduate work at Keio University in Japan. He also holds a M.S. degree in Industrial and Computer Systems Engineering from the Keio Graduate School of Engineering.

A 22-time Ironman finisher he has competed in and finished 3 World Championships.  Additionally, Mr. Tateno has participated in over 50 marathons. When not working, swimming, running, and biking, Mr. Tateno’s other great passion is ocean yacht racing.
